Hartley takes his first National Championship golf
​
David Hartley won championship in Bricilia, just outside Cryonica, after a thrilling battle with previous national champion Mark Uptown.
The best thirty golfers of the country came together at the Stuart Golf Complex for the 17th edition of the national golf championship. The big favourite was current national champion Mark Uptown who also won the last three games in the Strice Golf competition. “I’m in a good shape, the last three victories gave me a boost for this championship and I’m only satisfied with the victory today”, said an ambitious Uptown.
If we look at the main competitors of Uptown there are some interesting names. First, we have Chris Lancross who was outstanding in the beginning of the competition with two victories. Now it seems like he is past his best shape but his still, he is somebody to keep an eye on. The next favourite played a home match, John Wisdom is based in Cryonica and was extra motived to have a good result. The last competitor for Uptown is David Hartley. He is playing on a high level the whole season and had the most top five places. The championship was predicted to be a hard battle where any mistake could be disastrous.
After the first five holes we already saw the four favourites heading the table. It was Wisdom who was leading before Uptown, Hartley and Lancross. But the next holes played a big role in the result of the championship. First Lancross made a big mistake at hole 7, his golf ball landed in the water. This brought him well down with eight points on the leading man Wisdom. But at hole nine and eleven it was Wisdom who was struggling to get the ball in the hole and also disappeared from the lead of the race.
It was now a battle between Uptown and Hartley. Uptown was leading with one par less then Hartley. This close battle continued for the following holes. Before the last hole Hartley made one point less so we had an equalizer. The 21th and last hole would be decisive. “I felt very confident the whole game, even at the last hole I was convinced I would take the victory”, explained Uptown. But It was Uptown who made a little mistake and Hartley who took advantage and won the first national championship in his career. “It was a nervous game, it was necessary to stay calm the whole time and just focus on my own game. This result is a surprise but I’m so happy. To win the national championship from the legend Uptown is a dream come true”, reacts the overjoyed new national golf champion of Stricium David Hartley.

Strive for the five!
Lately Stricium had a down period when it comes to recycling says the University of Cryonica, after having done a survey on this subject with nearly 3000 participants. Our president, the one and only Josh Jones, takes his responsibility and says that it is time to take action. He wants to end this setback. “An improvement is necessary for our country. We take recycling and living in an environment friendly way very seriously. Not reacting to this setback is just not an option“, says J. Jones. He really wants to end this down spiral on recycling and decided to start a brand-new campaign so Stricium could get back on top of the recycling game. The campaign is named: “Strive for the five!”.

J. Jones about his new recycling campaign: “Stricium has to keep moving forward if we want to keep our leadership as recycling champion of the UBN. To that purpose we have to improve our current policy. We are a country that values the environment a lot. We have to put all our effort on this goal so we will be able to keep living on this beautiful planet. ” Together with some specialists J. Jones made a 3-year plan and hopes that this will be enough to completely solve the problem . The campaign consists of five steps that will encourage and help people to recycle more effectively. These steps can all be done at home. The steps will be advertised through television and on the official website of Stricium.

The campaign will be launched on April 1. On that day the president will also hold a speech on Cryonica square. From there he will spend the whole day talking about the campaign and moving around the town. This campaign is very important for our president. If this goes well his chances of being re-elected will increase. The speech will be broadcast on TV1 and live-streamed on our website, but everybody is welcome to hear the speech live on Cryonica square.

A last word from our king: “I hope that this will alert people that change is necessary. I know everybody in this country strives for the best and is working very hard but this is a very important aspect of our lives too. Think about the world that our children will live in. Let’s try to make it the most beautiful and happy place!”.
Free Timothy!
As probably everybody already knows our beloved scientist Timothy Stuart and his family are in big trouble in Yaroslavia. Last year they made the decision to work in Yaroslavia and moved. Although he had good intentions, he made a big mistake. He signed a very strict contract which forbade him to leave Yaroslavia. At first Timothy liked working there, but it didn’t take a long time before he missed Stricium and especially the freedom that we offer to our citizens. He tried to escape but unfortunately got caught just as he and his family were going to cross the border. Because of this, they are now sentenced to lifelong imprisonment and possibly a death penalty for Timothy.
The news spread quickly and a lot of you (our citizens) took actions. A dozen of protest actions were organized and funds were raised, hoping to free Timothy from Yaroslavia. The King, J. Jones, had extensive discussions and negotiated back and forth with the ‘Three Hammer Counceil’ trying to find a solution. And it has finally happened, a deal has been made.
Timothy Stuart, his wife and children will be able to return within 5 days. As counter service Stricium offered them to do our cryonic treatment on the ‘Three Hammer Counceil’, who are the current dictators of Yaroslavia. Stricium will build a special, distant cryonic room for the three dictators who will be frozen when they die.
The King found this the best solution and really wanted Timothy and his family to come back and have a great life. It is very important for Stricium, we care about our citizens. J. Jones says: “We did everything we could. Offering our specialism and cryonic treatment was the only thing that convinced them to free Timothy and his family without other bad measures, or Timothy being killed. We hope that our citizens are happy with this solution. We appreciate all the support. Timothy and his family will return within 5 days and we will welcome them with lots of love.”

Cryonics Festive Day

Our great-grandparents have made the biggest change in our
country and culture. Thanks to them we are who we are now. To
remember their hard work developing the cryonic treatments
that we can offer nowadays, we decided to organize this Festive
Day. Unity is very important for all of us. It’s due to this mindset that our great-grandparents made such a difference. On April 13 we will all be united as one. Local bands will play, our kids will perform dancing and singing acts or display any other talent they have. And there will of course be a lot of food and good company.
The whole square will be nicely decorated with lights and festive accessories to create a cozy atmosphere. There will be a great variety of food. Both meat dishes and fish dishes will be served. A special menu will be provided for veggies among us. For the kids, there is a special menu too. A menu costs 40 strices per adult. And only 25 strices for a children’s menu. There will be a few stands for drinks and for appetizers during the day. Everybody can choose whether they come to eat dinner together or only for a few hours in the afternoon.

Our beloved king J. Jones and his whole family will be there as well to celebrate our most important development through the years. Unity makes us strong.
We are very excited to announce our special Cryonics Festival on April 13. With this commemoration, we want to celebrate the centenary of our well-known cryonic treatments as well as the hard work every one of us has put into it. The celebrationtakes place on Cryonica square from 14:00 until 20:00.
Stricium organises an international boat trip!
We Stricians always strive to lead and be the best. That’s why our president, J.Jones, came up with a new idea. “From now on, Stricium will organise an unprecedented special event each year. It will keep us striving forward. The first special event that we will organise will be an international boat trip. Next year we will give Stricians 3 options and they will be able to vote for the one that they prefer. They will also be able to put forward their own ideas and the winner will be rewarded of course. This year we wanted to give an example of a spectacular event, to kickstart the idea.”, says J.Jones.

The boat trip will be completely organised by some of the best event planners of Stricium. Everybody who has a boat will be able to participate with as many people as they desire. This event is a unique opportunity for Stricium to show people from other countries what Stricium has to offer. The president is very excited about this event. The boat trip will take place in June, the exact date is not known yet.

The trip will begin in Metoopia. Each they they will move forward to another country. So each time the citizens from the country where people arrive will join the others. The participants will stop in three other countries after Metoopia (In chronological order: The Kingdom of Dordovan, Yaroslavia, Musica) and will then finally arrive in Stricium. On the picture below you can see the specific route (The red stars are the places where the participants will stop for the day.)

After their arrival the participants will stay in Stricium for three days. Several events will be organised for them during their stay. That way they will learn about our culture.
Green light, Go!
3 citizens of Licium, a small city in Stricium, organised the best environment-friendly market in the whole country! As you all know Stricium really encourages citizens to take care of the planet. That’s why every year a market that is environment-friendly can get the title: ‘Best market of the year’. Citizens themselves can vote online for their favourite. There is also a specialised jury that visits each contestant and gives points to each one.
The bio-market that won is called ‘Green Light, Go!’ and was organised by three citizens: Sofie, Mark and Sam. They all come from a small city in Stricium: Licium. They are the first ones to organise a market in general in their city and they obviously did an amazing job. They created an outside bio-market that is also partly covered. Sofie about the market: “The atmosphere that you immediately get is unbelievable. We really tried to make the market in a way that it gives the visitor a relaxing and enjoyable moment. We also only work with locals and make sure that everything that is sold is a bio-product.”
We went to take a look ourselves and it is unbelievable how happy everybody is. You can also take a lot of free food samples to try the products. But the biggest eye-catcher is a product called ‘pressed juice’. It is a local favorite and everybody seems to love it. Pressed Juice is not what you think it is, it is not a juice. Pressed juice is a sort of ice-cream, but made with only juices from fruit and other healthy ingredients. A completely guilt-free, healthy, sweet and fun dessert!

International Events
UBN's Got Talent!
We are very happy to hear that all the UBN member states are finally doing something together. The first edition of UBN’s Got Talent will appear on Television on May 29 2019. On that occasion the participants will show their talents and the judges will consider if they pass to the next round or not. Every citizen of every country is able to send a video to present their talent and maybe start their journey in the show. The best ones go to the live show and the winner receives a big prize.
We got very excited on hearing that our beloved William Bennett was one of the participants. Mr. Bennett is from Homelonia, rather a small city in Stricium. His talent is street golf, and he is very proud of it. As are we. We are very proud that he will represent our country. He is a good citizen and works very hard in our cryonic centres. He is an example for everyone.
